Singaporeans lack intelligence and social grace

Singaporeans lack intelligence and social grace

Story has it that my aunt was on an MRT train and because of a sudden gush of cold air upon entering the train, gave a loud sneeze. Just for the record, she covers her mouth while sneezing.

She sat down beside a fellow passenger and due the the itchy itch feeling in her nose, she gave another sneeze. The passenger turned and glared at her. Her hands, which were rather relaxed and resting on her false leather handbag, slided into the handbag with the agility of a snake. She ran through her belongings frantically and located what she wanted, a small pack of paper tissue. She took out a piece and used it to cover her nose, and then glared back at my aunt.

This proves 2 points.

1) Singaporeans are rude. Glaring?
2) Singaporeans are dumb. Sneeze=possiblity of H1N1? A paper tissue with its obscenely big pores can block viruses?

Do you want to “Unleash your potential?”

Do you want to “Unleash your potential?”

Why does so many phony self-improvement workshops and seminars claim to “unleash your A” where A can stand for anything, be it potential, leadership, hidden talent… blah blah blah?

Well, this is to protect itself.

Since most people who had to cough up 4 or 5 digit figure for these workshops obviously has intelligence level bordering on that of an ant’s, it goes without saying that they have no potential, leadership, etc to be unleashed and the workshop doesn’t really have to do anything except talk crap.

Meanwhile, those who attended the workshops but (obviously) did not benefit could not complain. Imagine the following conversation:

“Why didn’t I turn into a millionaire after spending $10000 for your “Unleash The Businessman in you” workshop?”
“Because apparently it turns out that there is nothing in you. Sorry, we can help you unleash, but it appears there is nothing for us to unleash.”

This system works very well, as only those who are dumb enough to cough up the money for such a workshop would often be those who has nothing latent to unleash, so the scam works.
Looking at the other angle, the speakers at the workshop who had “made their fortune” further proves their own success by learning large sums to unleash something that doesn’t exist.
