What a day

What a day

Today was a very interesting/happy/exciting day for me.

After making the decision to buy an iPod for my gf to celebrate our 5th Anniversary, my gf replied that she don’t want to waste that money and want to stick with her current mp3 player (which was also bought by me) until it is spoilt before considering another mp3 player. How many girls would reject such an offer? I asked her to think through what she else she want for our anniversary, so that me, being such a terrible bf, would use this chance to get something nice for her. After a whole day of consideration, her wish was so sweet, and yet so simple: She just want to take a neoprint with me. Awwwwww…..
(background: I have always found neoprints a waste of funny so I didn’t take any neoprints with my gf before)

I’m also pretty happy about my DM and OOAD result, even though I didn’t really study for them due to other commitments. One thing that bugged me though, is how 1 particular point get deducted from my OOAD written test. 1 point isn’t alot, but when you only have a grand total of 3 point deduction in a 50 points test, 1 pt is 33%.

And this is what contributed to 33% of my mistakes.

The way to fix a mouse

The way to fix a mouse

I felt frustrated by the fact that my Logitech mouse, which I purchased many years ago for crazy price of $149, is now almost unusable because of a faulty scroll wheel.

Angry that the $149 had such a short life span, I decided to knock some sense into it by “accidentally” dropping the mouse on the floor.

Just kidding.

I was thinking that maybe some stuff got stuck in there and giving the mouse a good knock would solve the problem. So I dropped the mouse on the floor.

I was right.

Not only did the mouse survive the fall, the scroll wheel is working properly again.

So ladies and gentlemen, next time, when you need to fix your mouse, you know what to do.

Oh!

Oh!

I have been very moody lately. the stress from school work is all catching up on me.

why am I always living in the shadow of my own success? after The Wicked, I have yet to find an idea that could rival it in terms of popularity and substanability. After sem one in Smu where I scored so well without conciously putting in effort, I have made myself a victim again.

how can I maintain that GPA? am I even cut out for it? should I even try? I am frustrated.

My recent acquisition of a DSLR was done without the blessing of my parents. While cf’s parents nag him constantly after the purchase, they went ahead to buy a 200++ BIG dry box for him to store his equipment to protect it from fungus. when I bought the cheapest and smallest digital drybox that I could find, only more nagging ensues.

When another friend approaches his parents regarding his interest to get a DSLR, his mum gladly sponsors the full amount.

None of my friends mentioned above are particular rich either.

yet, there are more and more newly rich in Singapore and it seems that they failed to teach the concept of money to their kids. a secondary school kid ask for a DSLR only to take shots that are worst than those taken from a hp camera. they imagine that DSLR will magically give yu better photos. It is not so. what matters is the person behind it.

life is just unfair, when you see people who know nothing buying things that you know how to work and make full use of but could not afford.

my decision to buy a DSLR started 3 years ago, but I decided to hold it first until I can take shots with a regular camera that are praised by members on clubsnap. That happened 2 weeks ago. coincidentally my DSLR is now 2 weeks old.

I also sold one of my r/c car to make this purchase. While r/c is extremely fun, I am growing old fast and I makes sense to subsitude a more childish hobby for a more mature one.

i admire my parents for living so simply, so that money can be directed at more fruitful thiings. but when I look at sihui’s close family that dine out every weekend, at zombie’s father who buys r/c heli for him for Christmas and shares photography hobby with him… I am seriously sian. will, you can’t have the best of both world.

maybe I’m still too young to think about what parents shoukd or should not do. I still a jc kid who haven’t seen the world.
