Tay Wei Kiat is currently an undergraduate reading Information Systems Management at Singapore Management University (SMU). Both a budding entrepreneur and an enthusiastic student, Wei Kiat juggles his time between school and business demands.

In SMU, Wei Kiat holds the role of Business Solutions Director and IT Solutions Director for Special Interest Community Service Sodality and School of Information Systems Society respectively. Keen to help his fellow undergraduates with their studies, Wei Kiat also serves as Teaching Assistant for Seminar on Information Systems, Leadership & Team Building, and Database Management modules.

His passion in using technology to add value to others also inspired him to take on the role of Microsoft Student Partner. Despite his multiple commitments, he continued to maintain academic excellence and this was recognized through his placement on the school’s Dean’s List.

Beyond school, Wei Kiat frequently spearheads IT projects that aim to bring value to the masses. In 2006 when he was just 17, he started an online puzzle that was enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of fans all over the world. In 2009, upon entering SMU, he saw the need for a purpose-made second-hand textbook marketplace and founded BookINBookOUT is now used by over 65% of all SMU undergraduates and thousands of undergraduates from other local Universities.

Despite shifting his focus from being a Programmer to an IT Project Manager, Wei Kiat constantly upgrades his technical skills during his free time.

Wei Kiat is currently the Co-Founder and Product Manager of Oompr! Pte Ltd. Its flagship product, Oompr! Social Marketplace, is the first social marketplace of its kind in Asia.

When not dreaming of more serious stuff, he enjoys photography with his trusty Nikon D5000, loves music with his Ultimate Ears Triple-Fi 10, Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro and his assortment of audio gadgets, gets his adrenaline by spending a day at the off-road radio control dirt track which he helped build, and hangs out with his girlfriend.
