A new year “celebration”

How do we actually celebrate a new year, and the passing of the previous?

Do we post random happy new year messages on Facebook.
Do we have fun?
Do we sleep through it?
Do we work through it?

The passing of a year does nothing but reinforces the passage of time. When we look back in history, we see various contributions, efforts by various individuals and teams to allow everyone live a better life.

Post random message on Facebook?
Does it matter what you wrote when almost the whole world is writing the same thing?

Have fun?
Having fun is not a way to celebrate a new year. If everyone have fun, humanity would not progress. We would be stagnant. This is one of the most counter-productive and selfish activity ever. How can we celebrate the passing of time by doing an activity that wastes it?

Sleep through it?
Rest well, and get ready for the new year. I support. After all, a new year is just a change in numbers. And numbers has no meaning. Yet people are superficial enough to find reasons to celebrate over the smallest things. They live only in the moment, brain too small to comprehend the smallest of their miserable life.

Do we work through it?
Yes. With work, we can make a difference. With effort, we can change things. What better way to celebrate the cumulative effort of humanity, all our progresses that we, as a race have made since Year 0?

Hence I see the irony and superficiality of humans. We celebrate the passage of time by doing nothing other than wasting it having fun, not caring that it is through work of million others throughout our history to bring us to what we have today.
